What is a Popsicle or Ice-Pop?
An ice-pop is a water or milk-based frozen snack on a stick. Unlike sorbet or ice-cream which is whipped while freezing to prevent ice-crystal formation, an ice-pop is frozen while at rest and becomes a solid block of ice. The stick is used as a handle to hold it. In the United States and Canada, frozen ice on a stick is generically referred to as a popsicle due to the early popularity of the Popsicle brand and the word has become a generalized trademark to mean any ice-pop, regardless of the brand. source
What goes into my version of fruit popsicle? The Ingredients:
This tri-colored fruit popsicle is purely made from healthy goodness of fresh fruits without the addition of any sweetener, artificial food color, or flavor. I have made these fruit ice-pops using 4 fruits namely,
- Mango: Mango puree forms the yellow colored layer of our popsicle. Use ripe and sweet variety of mango as we are not adding any sweetener. However, if your fruit is not sweet, you may add little honey or maple syrup to the mango puree.
- Watermelon: The red layer of our popsicle comes from watermelon. If you have strawberries at hand, you may add them to watermelons while blending them in a grinder jar.
- Kiwi Fruit and Grapes : The green layer of our ice-pops comes from the Kiwi fruit. I have added green grapes also to the kiwi fruit while blending to impart natural sweetness to the ice-pops.
However, you may use any fruit or berries (either fresh or frozen) of your choice to make this ice-lollies.

In this group all participating members are divided into pairs and both partners exchange a set of secret ingredients, using which both have to cook a dish depending upon the theme for the particular month. Once the dish is ready only the pic of the dish is shared on the group and the other group members take turn in guessing the secret ingredients just by looking at the pic of the dish. The secret ingredients and the dish name are revealed at the end of the month when the recipe is published by the respective blogger.
My partner for the frozen treats theme was Preeti Shridhar Tandon di and she gave me watermelon and kiwi fruit as my 2 secret ingredients and i made these suagr-free healthy fruit popsicles using the ingredients. In return, i gave her yogurt and maple syrup and she made these beautiful Strawberry Yogurt Popsicles using the set of ingredients. Her gorgeous looking Wool Bread is next on my to-do list.

- Healthy Summer Treat
- Full of fruity flavors
- Delightful and refreshing
- 1 large or 2 small mangoes
- 2 Kiwi Fruits
- 1/2 cup green grapes
- 1/4 th portion of a small watermelon
- Wash the fruits and peel the mangoes and kiwi fruit.
- Separate the pink flesh from the watermelon rind.
- Chop the fruits roughly.
- Make a puree of mango and watermelon separately.
- Similarly add kiwi fruit chunks and green grapes to a blender jar and pulse to make a lump free puree.
- You may use any fruit or berries (either fresh or frozen) of your choice to make this ice-lollies.
- Use ripe fruits that are sweet and juicy for making popsicles as we are not using sugar in this recipe. However, if your fruit is not sweet you may add a little sweetener like honey or maple syrup to the fruit puree.
- I added grapes that were very sweet to my kiwi fruit, to balance the tartness without altering the color of the popsicle. Similarly, if you have strawberries at hand you can blend them along with water melon to make the pink color of our popsicle.
- Allowing the first layer to freeze and set before adding the second fruit puree, ensures that the layers do not mix up and remain distinct.
